8th Annual Mike Steinmann / Salvation Army
Golf Tournament & Fish Fry
Thank You for visiting The Salvation Army of Cumberland County. We are part of a worldwide organization dedicated to serving those in need. Since our charter as a Service Unit by The Salvation Army in 2001, our primary mission has been to assist with the un-met needs of Cumberland County children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, and neglect by their parents. Most of these removals are due, in some way, to the manufacture and use of methamphetamine or some other drug, by the parents.
We provide clothing, coats or jackets, shoes, personal items, etc., whatever the children may need. We also have a program to provide, on a loan basis, necessary furniture items … baby beds, walkers, strollers, to foster parents who may be in need. Each summer we also make it possible for these children to attend “Camp Paradise Valley”, located in Burkesville, Ky., on Dale Hollow Lake. This facility is owned and operated by The Salvation Army, and provides a week of structured, faith based fun for our kids.
As our budget allows, we attempt to expand our service to the community. Recently, we have become involved with the Cumberland County Veterans Office by providing emergency aid to Cumberland County Armed Forces Veterans. Some have found themselves homeless and in need of food, and we feel it to be part of our mission to try to assist our veterans whenever possible.
During disasters and extreme emergencies, w"Doinge also work with the Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency to provide aid and food service to both victims and first responders.
We ask that you consider becoming a Salvation Army Volunteer … we need your help. You may be interested in shopping for children’s needs, our Holiday Bell Ringing program, helping with summer camp, our Thanksgiving or Christmas aid programs or helping with our annual golf tournament.
